Police and emergency responders arrived at the home in Kansas City, Missouri.

When they arrived they said they found the child with a gunshot wound.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and listed with serious injuries.

However, at 11.43am on Christmas morning, police issued an update of “immense sadness” stating that the child had died in hospital on Saturday night.

Police officers were also on site to collect evidence.

No suspects are being investigated in this incident, police said.
