The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency confirmed the 25 deaths in the state in an update Saturday night.

Dozens more remain injured, MEMA reported.

Search and rescue efforts are underway in the wake of the tornado, which tore through a 100-mile stretch.

Photos have surfaced of survivors combing the wreck.

A young girl was spotted amidst the remains of her destroyed home.

Homes, businesses, trees, and even the Rolling Fork water tower were completely leveled by the tornado.

Cars have been spotted atop the remains of houses, further showing the storm’s strength.

According to initial reports, the tornado was on the ground for at least an hour.

According to Jackson meteorologist Lance Perrilloux, the twister traveled an estimated distance of 170 miles.

“That’s rare — very, very rare,” he told the AP of the storm.

“All the ingredients were there.”

Rolling Fork is a city of about 1,900 people in western Mississippi.

As the tornado struck, the National Weather Service issued an urgent warning, advising: “To save your life, take cover now.

“You are in a life-threatening situation,” it warned.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves visited another hard-hit area, Silver City, on Saturday.

“The extent of the damage and casualties is evident everywhere today,” he tweeted.

“Houses, businesses… entire communities.”
