Has Jimmy Savile been deprived of his knighthood?

JIMMY Savile was once a national treasure until his horrific crimes were exposed after his death.
He was admired for his extensive charity work and even knighted, after which people demanded that he be taken away upon learning of his misdeeds.
When was Jimmy Savile knighted and for what?
1971, Jimmy Savile was honoured OBEa British honor bestowed by the queen to recognize the contributions one has made to the country.
In 1990 he was officially knighted.
He was described by The Guardian as an “amazing philanthropist” and admired for his charity work.
It has been estimated that Savile has raised £40million for charity, most notably Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
However, it is now believed that he sexually abused the vulnerable patients there and at other hospitals.
Shockingly, he has been the face of child safety campaigns and even a pamphlet called Stranger Danger that would warn children to beware of suspicious adults.
Has Jimmy Savile been deprived of his knighthood?
In 2012, the Cabinet Office confirmed that there was no knighthood to be revoked in Savile’s case.
Former Prime Minister DavidCameron raised the prospect of Savile being posthumously discredited following allegations of sexual abuse of young girls.
“It’s a living order, and then you cease to be a member when you die,” a Cabinet Office spokesman said. “There is no honor to revoke.”
Savile would have been stripped of his knighthood if his crimes had been exposed during his lifetime.
Knighthoods can only be held by a living person, and they fall away upon death, so they cannot be removed once the person has died.

Where is Jimmy Savile now?
Savile was found dead at his home in Roundhay on October 29, 2011, two days before his 85th birthday.
He had previously been hospitalized with pneumonia, an infection that causes inflammation in the lungs.
His death was not considered suspicious.
His gold satin coffin was on display at the Queens Hotel in Leeds, along with the last of each cigar he smoked and two of his This Is Your Life books.
Savile was then buried in Woodlands Cemetery, Scarborough, where locals asked that his body be exhumed and cremated.
However, no one was willing to pay the £20,000 to dig him up.
