Hartford plane crash at Brainard Airport leaves charred debris in its wake after pilot ejects before suffering ‘burns’

A PLANE crash at Brainard Airport injured a pilot after being thrown from the plane.
After the incident, charred debris could be seen lining the airport’s runway.

According to NBC Connecticut, the incident happened around 3:45 p.m.
The single-engine Lancair IV-P plane crashed shortly after takeoff, the outlet reports.
One person, the pilot, was on board at the time of the crash.
The pilot was thrown from the plane and taken to a nearby hospital with burns and possible broken bones.


The outlet also reports that the pilot was alert after the crash.
It is unclear what caused the plane to crash.
Rescue workers are on site.
The airport will remain closed during the investigation.
The Connecticut Airport Authority confirmed to WFSB that an incident occurred at the airport.
Brainard Airport is located on Lindbergh Drive, three miles outside of downtown Hartford, Connecticut.
The airport has one seasonal grass runway and two asphalt runways.
It also relieves congestion at nearby Bradley International Airport.
Brainard Airport is home to the Connecticut Aero Tech School.
