HARRY MAGUIRE will reportedly hold talks with new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag over captaincy.
The £80m defender became United captain in January 2020 but he has come under fire for some poor performances.
His performances in a Red Devils jersey even spilled onto the international scene when he was booed by English fans ahead of the Côte d’Ivoire game in March.
SunSport announced earlier this month that Ten Hag is ready to put the captain through a dressing room vote.
And The Mirror are now reporting that Maguire is set to meet with Ten Hag in July to discuss his future as Man Utd captain.
Maguire is said to be keen to keep the captain’s armband ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Longtime servant David de Gea is the favorite to take on the captaincy.
Insiders insist goalkeeper De Gea will be the overwhelming choice in the first-team squad.
Ten Hag complimented Maguire when he was first introduced as a United manager.
He said of the England international: “I have to reiterate, next season is a different season.
