Harrowing update on the death of Kieli Rodni as laptop and belongings found at the bottom of Prosser Lake where her body was found

A WEB detective has claimed to have found Kiely Rodni’s laptop and belongings in Prosser Creek Reservoir, where her car and body were discovered.

The 16-year-old disappeared around 12:30 a.m. near a campground in Truckee, California, on August 6 after a wild graduation party with friends.

Local authorities and the FBI spent about two weeks searching for Kiely but found not a single lead before a volunteer dive team, Adventures With Purpose, found her car within hours.

Heartbreaking footage later posted to YouTube showed the team discovering their submerged vehicle and announcing that Kiely’s body was in the back seat.

Her family were initially stunned, asking how law enforcement could have overlooked the car, and now they could be criticized again for not recovering their belongings.

A detective who runs an account called Checkit TV claims to have made the discovery while rowing in the reservoir and dove down to retrieve the items.

A Nevada County Sheriff’s spokesman told The US Sun, “I can confirm that our office has contacted the person who claims to have recovered some of Kiely’s property and we have taken possession of those items.”

They added, “I cannot say at this time whether the property belonged to Kiely or not.”

Photos from The US Sun show the silver Apple Mac laptop covered in stickers, including one that reads: “Drugs are bad” and another that reads “Virginity rocks.”

The US Sun reached out to Checkit TV, who said Kiely’s ownership was confirmed by her grandpa, David Robertson, who was grateful for her help.

Kiely’s family is not publicly commenting on the case amid a police investigation, but their laptop is unlikely to be working after weeks underwater.

In a bizarre video posted to YouTube, the man behind the true crime channel told followers that police had initially refused to show up to get the items and he had reached out to others to get theirs to find family.

He then allegedly spoke to Kiely’s grandfather and her friends and told them what he had discovered out on the water and they came out to meet him.

The channel’s owner, who asked not to be named, told The US Sun he doesn’t blame law enforcement for missing the items, saying: “I think the police are doing a great job.

“When they were here, the water levels were much higher back then.

“Today they are much lower due to a dry winter which causes Lake Tahoe to be low and they have to draw from the other reservoirs.”

When asked how he felt when he found the laptop and other items, he added, “This is one of the most rewarding experiences to be able to help the Rodni family.”

Items recovered from the lake also included a duffel bag, hairbrush, charging cable and gift box, which were noted by police before leaving the scene.

POLICE INVESTIGATION

The Nevada County Sheriff previously said they may not release the cause of death due to their ongoing investigation after Kiely’s body was found.

Many have suspected someone else might have been involved, but police have yet to confirm that they believe her death was foul play.

In a statement, police told The US Sun: “The sheriff’s office has records responsive to your request.

“However, it should be noted [that] The investigation is ongoing and is currently considered ongoing.

“Once the investigation is complete, [the] Release is subject to any privileges and/or exceptions that may apply.

“We anticipate that the investigation, review and editing processes will be completed by November 1, 2022.”

They added that if the recordings are still not available in two months, they will notify the media of a new date when they could be released.

Pressing further on the timeline, a spokesman said: “The toxicology report that has not yet come back will be incorporated into the aggregate, which we will release when the investigation is complete and the records are ready for release.”

They added: “Death investigations have different investigation time components depending on the circumstances of the investigation. It is not uncommon for final coroner reports to take 2-3 months to be ready for publication.”

Kiely’s family has announced that a local life celebration will be held on September 10, but there are no current details on her funeral.
