HARROWING photos show bloody Ukrainians being dragged from a burning apartment complex in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian capital was hit by Vladimir Putin’s forces ahead of a widely anticipated assault on the city.

Fighting is still ongoing on the outskirts of Kyiv and some of its suburbs were hit by artillery overnight.
A fire in Russia also hit a nine-story apartment building in the city’s northern district, killing two more people, authorities said.
Firefighters worked to rescue survivors, carrying an injured woman on a stretcher from the burned-out building, still smoking.
One image shows a firefighter holding the head of an injured elderly man while another woman can be seen climbing down a ladder.
Meanwhile, two more people were killed and seven injured when an aircraft factory was attacked near Kyiv.
One person died in the Antonov factory itself while another was killed when bombs hit nearby apartment blocks, setting them on fire.
Officials said a councilor for the town of Brovary, east of Kyiv, was killed in fighting there.
Russian forces werea week later was ambushed there as they tried to advance towards the capital, with drone footage showing tanks on fire in the street after being destroyed by Ukrainian troops.
Shells also fell on the Kyiv suburbs of Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel, which have seen some of the worst fighting in an attempt to capture the stalled Russian capital.
Russia is currently trying to attack Kyiv from both sides to encircle the city.

Putin’s forces are believed to be approaching from the northeast and northwest borders ahead of a massive and bloody battle, the Ukrainian armed forces have revealed.
They captured parts of the northwestern suburban towns with vehicles and infantry, setting up checkpoints.
Civilians who fled to Kyiv after fierce battles with Putin’s army allegedly shot down fleeing women and children with guns.
Russia is accused of killing seven people – including a child – who were trying to flee a war zone over the weekend.
Ukraine’s intelligence service said the Russian military opened fire on a convoy evacuating civilians from the village of Peremoha in the Kyiv region.
They said in a statement: “After the attack, the occupiers forced the remnants of the column to return to Peremoha and did not allow them to leave the village.
“The Russians shot a column of women and children while trying to evacuate the village of Peremoha in the Kyiv region along an agreed ‘green’ corridor. Seven people died, including a child.”
At least 35 people were killed in a Russian air strike on a base where foreign guides were helping Ukrainians just 12 kilometers from the Polish border.
Russian forces fired more than 30 cruise missiles at the Yavoriv military base near Lviv, injuring 134 people, according to Ukrainian authorities
Kyiv also warned Vladimir Putin could begin to “provoke” the Nato countries.
