A mother reportedly had a chilling conversation with police officers just minutes before she was shot multiple times.
Police officers found Tiara Rodriguez Diaz, 20, dead in a car in Pennsylvania and found the body of her friend Kimberly Ortiz-Zayas, 21, after spotting a trail of blood.
Prosecutors have claimed that Rodriguez-Diaz and Ortiz-Zayas, who was five months pregnant, were gunned down by Mamadou Kallie, 23, on Sunday.
A fight reportedly broke out while Kallie and Rodriguez-Diaz were visiting friends, according to PEOPLE.
Rodriguez-Diaz, who was in a Toyota Corolla with her 22-month-old child, was questioned by Coatesville police officers.
A police statement claimed that she told officers “everything is fine,” but Kallie reportedly began to get agitated while being questioned.
She left the scene and Kallie drove off in a black Ford Edge car.
But about 30 minutes later, police received reports of an accident.
Rodriguez-Diaz was found dead in the driver’s seat of the Corolla after being shot multiple times, police said.
A trail of blood near the passenger door led police to Ortiz-Zayas’ body.
Medics pronounced her and her unborn baby dead at the scene.
Cops said the evidence points to Kallie driving the Ford Edge into the Corolla.
And officials claimed Kallie fled in the SUV with her child – who reportedly witnessed the shooting.
Kallie allegedly stole a black Infiniti car in West Chester from a person he apparently knew after the shooting
Police said he asked the driver to take him to Philadelphia before kicking him out of the car.
Police said he had blood on his shirt when he was arrested.
District Attorney Deb Ryan branded the murders “senseless and tragic.”
Rodriguez Diaz’s mother, Maria, posted on GoFundMe that her daughter was “the sweetest person”.
She added: “Her smile made everyone feel better; She lit up every room she entered. Not a day went by that she didn’t smile.”
Ryan vowed, “We will do everything in our power to hold Mamadou Kallie accountable for these premeditated, premeditated and cold-blooded murders.”
Valley Township Police’s Glenn Eckman said, “It was a brutal scene for law enforcement, but I thank all of our partners for their cooperation in finding and apprehending the accused.”
Kallie is facing two first-degree murder charges, one of which was murder of an unborn child.
He is also accused of child endangerment, car theft and flight and flight.
It is not known whether he is represented by a lawyer.
