Harmony Montgomery update: Shocking new details about father Adam’s arrest at home at center in search of missing girl, May 8

A FATHER has been arrested for stalking his wife at the same home where officials would center the search for his missing eight-year-old daughter 15 months later.

Law enforcement rolled a refrigerator in and out of Adam Montgomery’s former home Tuesday, along with other potential pieces of evidence, as the fruitless, month-long search for Harmony continued.

Harmony, who turned eight last week, disappeared in 2019 but was not reported missing until December 2021.

Her father, Adam, and his estranged wife, Kayla, cut all communication with their families — and a series of failures by Child Protection Services left Harmony’s mother and family in the dark.

As of Tuesday, investigations focused on a home on Gilford Street in Manchester, New Hampshire, where Harmony was last seen.

Officials responded to the home at least 16 times between January 2019 and January 2020, according to police reports obtained by The Sun through a public records request.

Adam’s alleged criminal activity continued about four miles away on Union Street, where he and Kayla lived for a time before splitting, according to a police report from The Sun.

Father Kayla, who is currently in prison, is said to have been stalked there in March 2021 and finally arrested.

The arrest report mentioned three children in the home. All of her information except age was redacted, but none matched Harmony’s age.

The report also said Kayla told police she lost her key, so she left her back door and the back window of the house open.

The police searched the house looking for Adam and found neither him nor anything out of the ordinary.

‘IT IS NOT GOOD’

After police were seen cruising around in a refrigerator and wearing hazmat suits on Tuesday, former FBI agent Jennifer Coffinaffer told The Sun it usually means law enforcement has to “preserve biological evidence”.

Drawing on her own experience as a field worker, Coffinaffer said, “If they find a body or body parts in a freezer, law enforcement would want to maintain the level of decomposition.”

Authorities have not disclosed what they are looking for or what is leading them to the home.

The New Hampshire attorney general’s office, which is leading the investigation, said early Tuesday night that they expect to be at the scene for the rest of the night.

The Coroner’s Office and Manchester Police referred all questions to the AG, which declined to answer specific questions.

“No matter what, it’s not good. I have a really creepy feeling about it,” Coffinaffer said.

ADAM’S ALLEGED ABUSE

According to Massachusetts DCF records, Harmony was torn between her mother’s care and the Department of Children and Families for much of her young life.

The young girl was placed in the care of Adam in 2019 around the age of five.

Investigators have since narrowed the timeframe of Harmony’s disappearance to November 28 to December 10, 2019.

Adam, 31, is being held on second-degree assault charges over an alleged assault on Harmony in 2019.

However, he was not charged in the child’s disappearance.

The 31-year-old is also facing charges of violating custody and two administrative offenses for endangering the welfare of a child.

Adam’s brother Michael told police the 31-year-old physically abused Harmony and gave her a black eye.

A detective then spoke to Adam’s uncle Kevin and asked him about Harmony’s eye injury.

According to court documents, Kevin said Adam told him in July 2019 that he [Adam] “beat her up [Harmony] around the house.”

Adam was reportedly angry at Harmony, who was five at the time, for being asked to watch her little brother, but he started crying, which infuriated the father.

The uncle also said Adam beat up his daughter, forced her to stand in the corner for hours and ordered her to scrub a toilet with her toothbrush.

KAYLA WAS ACCUSED OF AVOIDING

Kayla was also arrested and charged with welfare fraud, but they have since been dropped over new information about the services provided by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, according to the attorney general’s office.

The new charges still allege that the seven-year-old’s stepmother was still accepting food stamps for Harmony while she was missing.

However, the new charges come under a different law.

Prosecutors originally expected eight misdemeanor charges, but only two “prohibited acts” counts were filed under a public service statute.

She was released from prison but arrested again last week on perjury charges.

The attorney general’s office alleged that Kayla intentionally misrepresented herself by failing to disclose that Harmony was no longer under her care or living with her.
