Halo Infinite won’t let you replay campaign missions [Update: Feature Being Added Post-Launch]

Update: 343 has now confirmed that replayability of campaign missions will be added once the game launches.

Talking to The Verge“We haven’t announced a date yet, but it’s a work in progress,” explains 343 Industries’ creative director and vice president, Paul Crocker.

“We want replays to work well, and when you have a more open-minded game, it gets a lot more complicated,” he said. “So we made the decision to improve the quality of the single-player campaign to make sure that, as a foundation, it’s as strong as possible so that we can then add more features back in. ”

In a move that breaks with longstanding series tradition, Halo InfiniteCampaign’s won’t let you replay its story missions – meaning the only way to do so is to access them again via another save file.

In a statement issued by Microsoft to Polygon, the company confirmed that in-game story missions cannot be replayed once completed. The change stands in stark contrast to previous Halo games, which traditionally allowed players to replay missions through a dedicated menu system.

“The post-game gives you the option to continue exploring the larger environment, but for missions like the first two, when you’re not already in the ring, you can’t replay from the same a save file,” explains Microsoft. “You can get any target, remaining FOB price, [and] audio log, but the main story quests will not repeat. “

According to Polygon, one of the main reasons players can’t replay completed story missions stems from the game’s semi-open world structure. While the missions take place in a linear order, some require the player to traverse different regions of the world to complete them. Once completed, the player can usually return to those areas and explore, however, in doing so, you will not be able to trigger the story quest a second time.

Halo Infinite’s campaign launches tomorrow (December 8). In the meantime, multiplayer has gotten to grips with the game’s multiplayer mode, albeit with some issues with Progress and hacker, has also received many compliments from fans and critic same.
