“We understand that not being able to choose a specific regimen to coincide with a particular challenge can be frustrating,” 343. admits.

The specific requirements and the corresponding XP awarded for completing one of the game’s new challenge types will vary depending on the rarity of the challenge (i.e. Normal, Hero, or Legendary).

Additionally, some mode and activity-specific challenges have been eliminated entirely, reducing requirements or reducing weight. The Weekly Ultimate Challenge is now easier to complete as well, having lowered the overall requirements. 343 has also increased the overall weight of “Common” challenges in the game to help speed progression.

343 further explained some of the larger changes it is currently making. Additional factors that will affect progress such as changes to XP based on performance, XP per match, and other “additional progress vectors” are being worked on. However, the studio says that these will take time to develop and properly deploy into Infinite.

The latest change from the studio marks the birth of Halo Infinite third master progress update since its launch. Following on from the negative feedback received about Recent Fracture: Tenrai events of the game, 343 Industries has also confirmed that there will be even more changes to future event challenges.

“Players gave feedback that it was difficult to proceed with the Event Challenge because they were ‘stuck’ after the Weekly Challenge and/or there wasn’t enough to deal with during the event week,” 343 said.

“Later and when Fracture: Tenrai returns, Event Challenges will appear more frequently, clearing the void where players would previously be stuck waiting. And, while Normal Events will still be, there is a finite limit to the number of challenges available in a week – meaning it will take a couple of weeks to fully play – the maximum will increase to provide more buffer and allow similar players High performance progress a little faster.”
