Haaland tipped to break Premier League records after ONE GAME for Man City as team-mate Dias issued an ominous warning

ERLING HAALAND will break Premier League goalscoring records after just ONE MATCH in the competition.

And the bad news for defenders is he’s still settling in at Manchester City – according to new team-mate Ruben Dias.

Before and after his devastating debut at West Ham on Sunday, the top scorers of recent years lined up to have their say.

Alan Shearer jointly holds the record for most Prem goals in a season with his 34 goals in Blackburn’s 1994-5 title-winning season.

He scored a total of 260 points and tweeted “258 to go” to the 21-year-old Norwegian on Sunday evening.

The Newcastle legend added: “An incredible start to his Premier League career. He’ll score a lot of goals in this City side if he stays fit.

Wayne Rooney is second in the all-time list at 208 behind Shearer and has tipped Haaland to score a goal a game in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Ahead of the West Ham game, Rooney wrote: “He has 175 goals in 222 games to his credit. Given the number of chances City are creating, I think he’s capable of scoring a goal a game in England and winning this season’s Golden Boot.”

Guardiola’s big money signings have often taken a while to settle down – they took a season to really take root.

The record £100m purchase of Jack Grealish is a prime example, but the same is true of Riyad Mahrez, Rodri and Joao Cancelo, among others.

But during the friendly game against Bayern Munich in Green Bay and also on Sunday at the London stadium, there are signs that Haaland has switched directly to his new team.

Centre-back Dias believes the £51.4million star still needs time to adjust to his new team-mates and vice versa.

But the 25-year-old Portuguese doesn’t think it will take long and has urged the rest of Guardiola’s squad to help him settle in quickly.

He said: “We’re getting to know him and he’s getting to know us. The games will allow us to speed up the process.

“I’m really happy for him for scoring two goals in his first game in the Premier League today.

“It will also be great for his confidence and for the team because we know what he can give us.”

On Sunday we saw what kind of help Haaland can bring to this team

The only other City player to score twice in his Prem debut was a certain Sergio Aguero, who went on to score a whopping 258 more over the next decade.

Boss Guardiola found a way at the Etihad to win back-to-back titles without the deadly Argentine, who featured in just a handful of games.

But Sunday gave a taste of what the champions can achieve with a recognized No. 9 on their team.

Dias added: “On Sunday we saw what kind of help Haaland can bring to this team.

“At this point it’s very important to play together, that he adapts to us, we adapt to him and he feels more and more connected to the team.

“Despite all the individualists we have in the squad, this team only works if we work together as a team.”

West Ham’s Aaron Creswell has warned fellow defenders on what to expect from the former Borussia Dortmund ace this season.

The 32-year-old full-back said: “It’s the first time I’ve played against him. He’s so powerful and direct.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for us, but we’ve got a fantastic team to deal with. The conditions were really tough for us, especially when they kept the ball.

“They had a lot of possession and you feel like you’re constantly chasing. We faced a really good team but we were still disappointed with our performance.”
