CRISTIANO RONALDO will be rightfully furious after Manchester United’s embarrassing 6-3 loss to Manchester City.
And he’ll be even more upset when he learns that City newcomer Erling Haaland has now matched one of his goalscoring stats… in just EIGHT games.
Haaland scored his third Premier League hat-trick in Sunday’s Demolition Derby.
And that means he ties Ronaldo for prem threes, with threes each.
However, it took the Portuguese legend 232 games to reach that number.
The Norwegian star’s first hat-trick of the season came against Crystal Palace, which he then backed up with a hat-trick a week later against Nottingham Forest.
Haaland’s amazing start to the season has made him the first player to score hat-tricks in three consecutive home games.
And as if that wasn’t enough, he also broke the record for the fastest player to score three Prem hat-tricks, with the second-fastest, Michael Owen, to do so in 48 games.
Haaland was assisted in the hat-trick club by Phil Foden, with the striker scoring two goals for the Englishman, giving him another record as the player with the most goal contributions in a single Manchester derby.
Leandro Trossard was the only other player to score three goals over the weekend, with his treble nearly helping Brighton secure a win in their first game of the post-Graham Potter era.
Ronaldo was an unused substitute in today’s game and Erik ten Hag offered a bizarre explanation as to why he wasn’t using the forward.
The Dutchman revealed he didn’t sign Ronaldo “out of respect for his great career” as the 37-year-old looked on angrily.
