GTA trio on track to beat eFootball for worst game of 2021

If you’ve played eFootball, you know that it takes some work.
Confirmation from Rockstar that not only is its trilogy of GTA remakes real, but that it’s here before the end of 2021 is reason to celebrate. A very short time has passed from confirmation to launch of the collection, and no one is prepared for the disappointment it will bring. Suffice it to say that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is not what most people expect.
The PC version of the collection is in as bad a condition as it is now user score is 0.5 on Metacritic. That makes it the worst rated game of 2021, snatching the unwanted crown from eFootball with less than seven weeks to go. eFootball’s Metacritic PC User Score is now low 1.3, more than double that of GTA.
Trilogy’s Metacritic Score varies slightly depending on the platform, but not by much. None of them are above the one with the PS5 version pile top at 0.9. The reason the PC version of the game received the most backlash is because aside from the first few hours after launch, it’s completely unplayable. Rockstar shut down the Rockstar Launcher on Thursday afternoon when it discovered that it had left behind files from the original games in the remake that really shouldn’t be there.
The Nintendo Switch version of GTA: The Trilogy doesn’t perform too well on Metacritic either. Comparing the Switch version to other platforms has highlighted how much worse it looks. Regarding Rockstar’s defense, that is to be expected to some extent. However, some even think that the Switch version of the collection looks worse than a fan-made Vice City port on PS Vita which is definitely not okay.
It’s been a rough start for GTA: The Trilogy. Another victim of launching the game before it’s ready. What’s interesting is that this isn’t even the case of a studio announcing a game years in advance and ultimately feeling enough pressure to launch it as unfinished as Cyberpunk. Maybe it’s a case of Rockstar wanting to give GTA fans something to stop them asking for news about GTA 6. Mission accomplished, I guess, but in the worst possible way.
