Speedrunners will spend a week breaking all sorts of games in two, showing how quickly it can be completed when playing isn’t quite as intended.
The amazing Games Quick Finish (AGDQ) 2022 kicks off tomorrow, hosting the pace of pretty much every game you can think of. Everything from recent triple-A hits, such as Deathloop and Psychonauts 2, and wild hit classics like Zelda CD-i, GeoGuessr and Sonic R games will be in the spotlight at the show. exhibition.
As usual, this event is to raise money for charity. Like in previous years, the community is fundraising for the Cancer Prevention Foundation, which has raised a staggering $2,776,053 for the charity in 2021.
The list of games included in the speedrunning event is far too long to see in its entirety here, so here are some of the more eye-catching recent gameplay showcases scheduled for the week:
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
It takes two
But of course, AGDQ will also have some more niche titles, especially older games that you don’t often see in the speed run scene. Including:
The Simpsons: Bart’s House of Weirdness
The Adventures of Zelda
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II
Final Fantasy 13
Unsurprisingly, it’s another virtual GDQ event. The organizers have had previously expressed interest in holding it in person, or at least have some sort of physical audience, but the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has dashed those hopes. Even so, there will be no shortage of performances to enjoy, and if last year’s events are still going, there’s still plenty of money to be raised for a good cause.
Since its premiere in 2010, various GDQ events have raised a total of more than $34 million for charities such as AbleGamers, Autism Research, and Doctors Without Borders. Although the pandemic has created obstacles, blocking the way to donate every year, it has not stopped them from raising millions of people for various causes.
AGDQ 2022 will start tomorrow, 9 Jan. 4:30 PM GMT, end 5:13 AM GMT, Jan 16. You can check it out. Official Twitch channel.
