Graham Potter Uses Chelsea Stars’ Trendy Barber And Jokes ‘Maybe My Face Will Grow Like Fine Wine’

GRAHAM POTTER was told this week by his 12-year-old son that he had a “glow up”.

Chelsea’s fashion unconscious manager is still not clear whether it was a compliment or an insult.

But one thing is for sure, people are talking about him a lot more now.

Modest Potter hates seeing himself on TV and would rather go to the dentist than be in front of the cameras.

But like it or not, Potter’s profile is rising along with the success of his team, and that means his words, his haircut and his style of dress are big talking points – much to his amazement.

Even the black turtleneck underneath his suit in recent games has caused a stir, with comparisons to James Bond or the super-slick Milk Tray Man from chocolates adverts of yesteryear.

He said: “Somebody said to me the other day that I had a ‘glow up’.

“I have no idea what that is. But maybe I’ll grow in my face like fine wine.

“I had a haircut from someone who cuts boys’ hair. So that probably made a difference, I don’t know. It cost a lot more than I thought.

“Milk tray man? Is he the one who climbed through the windows?
“I used to wear the turtleneck. It’s not a new sweater. It’s not that old, but it’s not new either.

“If you stop by again – and I know this isn’t investigative journalism – I think we beat Tottenham 1-0 with that jumper, so maybe it’s a lucky jumper? I do not know.

“I’m a little better known and unfortunately my face is on TV too often.

“I don’t like watching myself on TV, I get sweaty hands and I prefer going to the dentist, to be honest.

“I know there’s 24-hour news now and it needs to be filled, so it might as well be about my sweater. Although I would like discussions about me to be a bit more sophisticated.”

No one mentioned his eyebrows, but Potter, 47, may soon have them done as part of his image transformation.

It’s impossible to dispute the change of face at Chelsea in recent weeks.

Unbeaten since former Brighton boss Potter took over five games ago, with four of those wins.

Tomorrow the Brummie will be chasing the fifth win in a row against youth team Aston Villa.

Villa boss Steven Gerrard, whose side drew 1-1 at Nottingham Forest on Monday, is under heavy pressure.

GRAHAM POTTER has gone from geek to chic.

With a comb and shoes so shiny you could use a mirror, the only way up was when he broke through as a manager.

Potter used to resemble an awkward teenager with a wobbly school tie and shirt, but luckily he’s given those outfits the boot.

The Chelsea boss looks like he’s been inspired by Pep Guardiola, with his appreciation for a sleek knit and facial fuzz.

This week’s Champions League trip to the Italian city of Milan – home of the famous fashion week recently – was the perfect place to showcase his sharp new look.

His style now is certainly more front-row than stuck on the sidelines.

Potter said: “The margins are very tight in the Premier League.
“Steven will want to improve results and will be looking at this game to try that.

“Had they beat Nottingham Forest they would have gone beyond Liverpool, that shows you how quickly things can change.

“We have to make sure we are up for the challenge. There is always someone under pressure in the Premier League.

“At the moment it’s Steven, but he’ll pull through, I’m sure.”
