“God, someone gets paid to design this,” joked one user on Twitter.

“My kid, 16, can do better than that,” said another.

“If you don’t mention it, we won’t notice,” a third interjected.

And on a more serious note, some have said that the new interface is actually harder to see for colorblind people.

The ultra-subtle tweak removes shadows entirely, while the blue circle in the center appears larger.

Colors have also been lightened.

This is the first time Google has updated the logo in eight years.

Apparently, the move went ahead to make it “in line with Google’s more modern brand expression”.

In fact, each logo is slightly different depending on the device you are using.

“You might ask,” why bother with such sophisticated sth? ” one of the company’s designers, Elvin Hu, said on Twitter.

“We tailor the Chrome experience to each operating system, with features like Native Window Occlusion on Windows, daily M1 support on macOS, Widgets on iOS/Android, and Material You on Android

“We wanted our brand to convey the same level of care.”

She revealed that the company considered something “more different” but ultimately decided a simpler style would do.

But one colorblind user complained that they saw it “worse”.

They say: “The 2011 version is best for red-green color blindness.

Hu responded that the new logos were shared early “to get valuable feedback” so the company can “make sure they work well for everyone” when they are finally rolled out.

The refreshed designs will start appearing in the wild within the next few months.
