Goalscorer Erling Haaland has revealed the secret of his success – special glasses that help him fall asleep.
They filter out blue light from appliances and the glare from lamps and refrigerators.
The 22-year-old Manchester City forward, who has already scored 14 goals this season, puts them on in the hours leading up to the substitution to ensure he gets a better kick.
The £51million star also avoids electronic devices two hours before bed.
Norwegian Erling said: “I wear these glasses in the evening. They help me sleep deeper and better.
“I see this as key to improving performance by even a few percent. It’s a matter of mentality.”
Haaland joined City from Borussia Dortmund in June.
The forward eats a mountain of food every day to stay in top shape.
It wreaks havoc on chicken and pasta dishes cooked without salt or oil, and foods like swordfish, sea bass and sea bream — all cooked with vegetables.
In addition, he mainly drinks water and avoids sugary snacks and frozen food, but only eats fresh produce.
At the German record champions Borussia Dortmund, he built up 12 kilos of muscle in 15 months – and once split a punching bag.
“His body responds so well to training because his genetics are privileged,” revealed former trainer Erase Steenslid.
“He gained 25 pounds of muscle in 15 months. it was crazy We rebuilt his muscle from the ground up. He was always the closest to the buffet and his plate was literally a mountain of food.
“I designed a track for him where he had to hit a sack at one of the stations… and one day he split it in half.”
