ITS has been ten years since a non-quarterback was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player.
In fact, only four non-quarterbacks have won the honor since the turn of the century, and all were running backs.
Despite the odds against her, Good Morning Football’s Jamie Erdahl gambled and picked Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor as her pick to become the 2022 NFL MVP.
Taylor was the league’s leading rusher in yards and touchdowns in 2021 while being named a Pro Bowler and First-Team All-Pro.
said Erdahl: “I think he was stripped of an MVP last year.
He was voted attacking player of the year and that should tell you something.”
However, their co-hosts stayed on trend, each picking a different quarterback to win the title.
Peter Schrager left with now-Denver Bronco Russell Wilson, who has yet to be named MVP despite a remarkable decade-long career that has included him reaching the Pro Bowl nine times.
Former Super Bowl winner Jason McCourty chose Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, who previously won the award in 2018.
And then Kyle Brandt surprised everyone.
Brandt said his favorite MVPs are the “completely unanticipated, head-scratching ‘What the hell?’ Kind of MVP.”
Keywords: Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.
A three-time Pro Bowler who has won just four seasons in ten years, Cousins would definitely fit into Brandt’s “unforeseen” form.
