Before that, Britpop hellraiser Noel Gallagher will perform with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on the Pyramid Stage before Macca triumphantly returns to the festival.

Planning on staying here and exploring the festival, he jokes, “After sitting on Macca’s knee for a while, I’m going to stop by the little Mancunian enclave up in some far-away Never-Never Land and say goodbye to Bez [from Happy Mondays] and the toy box and take it from there.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing The Punishers – the top psychedelics company from Manchester, although I think they might clash with The Pink Monkeys so I’ve got to decide which one to do – actually I could do both .

“Apart from that, nobody really.

“I don’t go for the music. I just wander around and meet amazing people having adventures and seeing wonderful things.”
