Girl, 13, ‘raped while walking through forest’ as police officers arrest boy, 16, for assault

Police have arrested a teenager suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl as she walked through a wooded area.

The girl was walking through the Chapleton area of ​​Sheffield, South Yorks, between 6:15pm and 6:45pm on Monday.

A 16-year-old boy the girl knew reportedly approached her before attacking her and “walking away.”

South Yorkshire Police said in a statement today: “A 16-year-old man from Sheffield known to the victim has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman aged 16 or under and is currently in police custody.

“The victim and his family will continue to be assisted by specially trained officers.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident number 899 dated August 8, 2022.
