The Swiss-Italian was beaming all over his face until he was greeted by a chorus of boos at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Qatar.
Infantino soon gave an annoyed look when the supporters made their feelings known.
Qatar has been heavily criticized for its stance on same-sex relations, its human rights record and its treatment of migrant workers.
And Infantino came under fire after Fifa joined forces with Qatar to ban OneLove armbands to be worn by seven competing nations.
Teams had to scrap carrying the idea for fear of being booked out before games even started.
The decision to lock the armband prompted the German players to cover their mouths during a team photo before losing their opener to Japan.
At one point, fans and journalists were even banned from wearing rainbow-colored clothing at matches.
But the decision was soon overturned, paving the way for Welsh fans to wear their famous multicolored bucket hats.

Launching the controversial Winter World Cup, Infantino launched a stunning attack on the “racist” and “hypocritical” West.
He said: “This criticism is deeply unfair. You don’t start blaming, fighting, insulting. You start getting involved.
“We have heard many moral lessons from Europe and the western world.
“But for what we Europeans have done for the last 3,000 years, we should apologize for the next 3,000 years before we start giving moral lessons here.
“Reform and change take time. In Europe it took hundreds of years.
“The only way to compare results is through engagement and dialogue, not hammering and insults.”
