CAPE CORAL

The Cape Coral Police Department said a gunman was on the run after shooting at a home on Saturday. This took place along SE 2nd Place in Cape Coral.

At first glance, this Cape Coral neighborhood looks ordinary and peaceful, with well-manicured lawns and dog walkers. But on Saturday, police said someone living there was targeted with a gun.

According to a Cape Coral police report, two people took cover behind a car. And, the person who lived in the house showed the dents on WINK News where the bullets hit that house. Investigators say someone pointed a gun out of the car window and started shooting at the two.

Although driver license shootings are rare on Cape Coral, police believe they know how the shooter targeted. They thought it was someone they were familiar with.

That’s not exactly what the neighbors wanted to hear.

WINK News knocked on 18 doors, hoping someone would be willing to talk about the shooting. But no one wants to film.

However, a man in nearby Publix said he was surprised to hear about the shooting.

“It’s a bit unsettling because people from all over the world are coming here more and more, so crime will definitely increase, which is not a good thing for those who are about to come here. [be] lived here for a while. That is [the] The only downside that I can think of is population growth,” he said.

The positive side is that no one was injured in the shooting. The bad thing is that the person who fired these shots is still on the run.

When WINK News asked Cape PD for surveillance footage or a description of the suspect, all they said was it was an “active investigation.”
