BARCELONA defender Gerard Pique has countered claims he earns £450,000 a week by posting a bank statement on social media.

The 34-year-old centre-back is one of three players accused of leaking wages by the Spanish TV3 program Onze – with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba also reported to be receiving hefty salaries with the club short of cash.

But Pique quashed those claims with a screenshot showing half of his annual salary – £2m.

This means that in 2021 he is paid £4m, which equates to around £75,000 a week.

Along with a screenshot of his salary statement, he also added a candid comment for those trying to reveal his salary.

Pique’s comment came after a statement from Barcelona – where the debt is supposed to pile up 1 MILLION pounds – regarding the reports on the wages of their players.
