Genshin Impact is the most viewed Subreddit in 2021
Genshin has had a huge impact on Reddit this year.
Reddit is made up of communities ranging from unsolved crimes to cute dogs to shower thoughts and dad jokes. In the site’s 2021 recap, it revealed what the biggest communities are, and it turns out people really love The Genshin effect.
In the second is League of Legends, followed by the gaming subreddit of all things titled r/gaming (thanks, IGN). Next up is r/rpclipsgta, a subreddit dedicated to GTA Online’s shoulder division. In fifth place is Final Fantasy 14 this makes sense when the expansion is released Endwalker sees login queues so long that thousands of people. 90 percent of the posts in that subreddit are probably complaints about queues and grapes.
The most popular post came from r/gaming and it was simply titled “child gamer” – it was a reversal of roles to highlight. discrimination that women often face in online gaming, showing how disturbing some of the comments they heard were. It opens with a guy asking, “Does anyone have a mic?” One woman then replied, “Is that a boy? I’m just what you know. I think you’re a boy. I’m not a pervert or anything but I want to. You know that I support boys playing games and I want you to feel comfortable playing online. So do you have a girlfriend yet?”
Followed by a news post about EA no longer exclusive to Star Wars, that is, other developers and publishers available chance to make games in that world. In third place is the prediction for Worlds 2021, followed by USA representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez playing League of Legends.
The fifth most popular post is a meme titled “Times of Change”. As seen above, it’s about the player moving from World of Warcraft to Final Fantasy 14 – some are doing it because they’re tired of Blizzard’s Old MMO, but others are due Ongoing criminal investigation into allegations and reports of sexual assault, harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard.
Many subreddits have seen strong growth in 2021 with views skyrocketing. NoPixel, one individual GTA RP server, got a 267% increase in views while the Pokemon Unite subreddit increased by 8,600%. The Undertale spin-off Deltarune saw an even bigger growth of 328,000 percent. If there’s anything to do with all of these stats, it’s clear that Reddit isn’t slowing down in growth.
