lbion beat Bruce on Monday with the club finishing 22nd in the Championship – their lowest position in 20 years.
Rowett, 48, appeals to the Baggies because he can work on a budget in the Championship.
SunSport understand Millwall has yet to receive an official request from The Hawthorns.
The former Birmingham boss has guided the Lions to three first-half finishes.
His side currently sit 15th in the second tier with 17 points from 13 games this season.
That puts them six points clear of relegation-threatened West Brom.
Former Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan is also a candidate for the Baggies appearance.
The 39-year-old Spaniard left the Terriers at the end of last season after guiding them to the play-off final.
