Gareth Bale CONFIRMS LAFC’s free transfer after snubbing Cardiff and withdrawing to prepare with Wales for the World Cup

The 32-year-old Welsh winger left Real Madrid at the end of his contract earlier this month.

Suggestions have been floating around for months as to whether Bale could retire or return to hometown club Cardiff.

But Bale put the rumors to bed after confirming he is joining LAFC on Twitter.

Bale shared a video of himself in the club’s black and gold and wrote: “See you soon Los Angeles.”

The MLS site retweeted Bale’s post but has yet to confirm the deal with the July 7 transfer window set to reopen the league.

Bale posted a 13-second video of him wearing the black and gold LAFC shirt and celebrating his signature love heart goal celebration.

The ex-Los Blancos star also dons a black cap before being dubbed ‘Gold’ in the promo.

It appears the video was cheekily captured at Hensol – the location of Cardiff’s Vale of Glamorgan training ground, which is shared with Wales.

Bale, who turns 33 next month, will now join Italian legend Giorgio Chiellini as the club’s second signing this summer.

The Welshman will now focus on being ready for the 2022 World Cup after helping his nation battle past Ukraine and reach the finals in Qatar this winter.

It also puts an end to Cardiff’s hopes of signing their hometown hero.

Bluebirds boss Steve Morison had a chance meeting with Bale, who was there doing a physio session with the Welsh medical staff, last week when the Championship club made a bold bid to bring him home.

But Bale opted to make the move to the States, where he will prepare for Wales’ first World Cup appearance in 64 years.

Bale is set to fly to California in the coming days and could make his debut alongside Chiellini in a blockbuster derby against rivals LA Galaxy at home on July 8.
