Deathloop, It Takes Two, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, etc. will win the grand prize at this year’s The Game Awards.
The Game Awards have just announced their nominations for 2021. The annual awards are a prestigious industry event and nominations for the biggest awards have been announced.
To be considered for the top prize are six candidates:
It takes two
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Resident Evil Village
A total of thirty categories for prestigious awards, including awards for Best Game Instruction, Best Narration, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Athlete Best eSports, Best Indie, Best Performance, etc.
The nominees above will fight for the Game of the Year.
Notable titles that received multiple nominations this year include Arkane Studios / Bethesda’s Deathloop, Hazelight Studio’s It Takes Two, and Double Fine / Xbox Game Studios 2’s Psychonauts. These three games all won the Best Narrative Award. Best and Best Game Direction outside of Game of the Five.
The Game Awards will take place in front of a single invited audience at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 9. Last year, the top prize was won for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2. , Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Ghost of Tsushima and Hades will be awarded Game of the Year 2020.
Season 2 of The Last of Us was the big winner of last year’s event, as in addition to Game of the Year, it also won Best Game Direction, Best Narration, Best Sound Design, Innovation in accessibility and Best Action/Adventure Game, while Laura Bailey won Best Performance as Abby.
Voting has begun and it will be hotly contested as indie favorites, best-loved movies and big-budget three-A titles vie for the prize. The complete list of nominations for all categories can be found here.
