One particularly lucky lottery player picked up two winning tickets in just 24 hours earlier this week.
The Maryland resident was still celebrating his first $400 win when he bought his next lottery ticket, which netted him a whopping $50,000.
Both tickets were purchased from R&R Beer, Wine & Liquor in Easton, Maryland.
The first victory for the 79-year-old came on March 27th.
Sunday afternoon’s ticket netted the player $400, according to the Maryland Lottery.
Less than 24 hours later, on March 29, the man again entered the liquor store and purchased a $1 ticket for a lunchtime raffle.
The avid lottery player learned immediately after purchasing the numbers that he had drawn another winning ticket, this time with a prize of $50,000.
For the winner, the double victory was more than just a stroke of luck.
The player says that he is very strategic when it comes to how he plays the lottery and what numbers he uses.
He told the Maryland Lotto that he picks combinations of numbers methodically and stays true to them, even if they don’t hit the jackpot right away.
His advice? Treat the lottery “like a relationship.”
“You have to take your games seriously,” he told the Maryland Lottery.
Before the back-to-back win, the Maryland man had told his wife he would pay part of her bills if he won.
He said he is true to his word and will use a portion of the profits to pay their bills.
He also plans to give his children some money as a surprise gift.
A few states away in New Jersey, another lottery player experienced a similar winning streak.
The New Jersey player picked up two winning tickets which brought him prizes of $50 and $100.
After stopping to get his hair cut, he decided to play another round. This ticket earned him his third win of the day with a $3 million bounty.
