FWC responds to injured boat fire in Englewood

ENGLEWOOD
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed to WINK News that it responded to a boat fire shortly after noon on Saturday.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., the FWC received a call about a boat crash with injuries near Indian Mound Park in Englewood.
According to the FWC, a 24-foot boat was preparing to leave the dock. Immediately after starting the engine, the ship exploded. The boat operator, a 44-year-old man, suffered severe burns. He is currently being treated at Tampa General Hospital. We do not know the man’s condition at this time.
Fortunately, the remaining 6 people on the boat at that time were unharmed.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Englewood Fire Rescue, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida State Fire Police also responded.
FWC continues to investigate and release more details as they become available.
