MANCHESTER UNITED legend Roy Keane slammed his former team’s “hugely embarrassing” performance against rivals Manchester City.
United were beaten 6-3 at the Etihad after City put in a dominant display that saw Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both score hat-tricks.
Antony’s goal and Anthony Martial’s brace eased the blow for the Red Devils, who were 4-0 down at half-time.
However, Keane was furious with the performance he witnessed and insists manager Erik ten Hag has many issues to resolve ahead of the next few games.
However, the star pundit praised City as “one of the best teams” he’s seen live.
Keane told Sky Sports: “There’s nothing United can take out of this game. The players should be ashamed. You can’t go into half-time 4-0 in a derby game.
“It’s very embarrassing, as brilliant as City United were they were desperate, especially in midfield. They were overrun in midfield and defensively they were all over the place.
“We look at the lead again… There was nothing from Man Utd. If you give something to players [Kevin] De Bruyne time and space, you’re looking for trouble.
“United were rightly punished. Elite sport is fantastic but brutal. Today it was brutal for Manchester United because if you’re not on your toes you get pounded by your local rivals.
“United have an experienced team out there. City were lacking players but whoever comes into the team is pure quality. They have that while Man Utd seemed to be everywhere.
“At a big club like Manchester United you wonder what it must be like when the players were 4-0 in the dressing room at half-time.
“It has to be bizarre but these players are getting used to it as they were 4-0 down at Brentford.
“The manager has to scratch his head with his staff as there has been progress in the last four games but it’s a big step backwards.
“That’s how they started. They were slowly coming out of the blocks. City sent a message that they were ready for that and the first goal is huge.

“United went down after eight minutes and never recovered. There were gaps everywhere, they were sloppy in possession. [Marcus] Rashford never got it, the wingers gave it away.
“Every time Man City went forward they looked like they were going to score. It’s a pleasure to watch City. They’re one of the best teams I’ve seen live but for United this is one big setback.”
“It’s a huge step backwards. They were 4-0 down against Brentford at half-time. The performance in the second half is not good.
“Until then there was no aggression in City’s game when the game was over. They had made a lot of substitutions so that’s no consolation.”
