Pascal Gross scored twice before half-time to put the Seagulls ahead at Old Trafford and while an Alexis Mac Allister own goal got United back on track in the second half, it was Graham Potter’s men who took all three points .
Man Utd fans were furious after the final whistle while club legend Neville was left in disbelief at how far the club have fallen.
When speaking for Sky Sports After the game he said: “The first thing you do when Man Utd’s phone rings is refuse the offer.
“Because the reality is that you know full well that they lost that game today, they are actually negotiating from an even worse position now than they were yesterday and that’s a bigger problem of theirs.”

Neville then reacted to the prospect of Man Utd signing former West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic, adding: “I don’t know. I have no comment on this.
“I have comment on everything in the world apart from Man Utd signing Marko Arnautovic today.
“I have nothing to say!”
New United boss Erik ten Hag has struggled to lure one of his key transfer targets to Old Trafford this summer.

The Dutchman and his staff have been in talks to sign former Ajax star Frenkie de Jong for months, but the midfielder is adamant he doesn’t want to move.
Man Utd have already missed out on signings of Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Darwin Nunez and Richarlison so club bosses are now scrambling to make more signings before the transfer window closes next month.
Austria striker Arnautovic has recently been heavily linked with a £7.5million move to Old Trafford.
However, Neville has urged the club not to repeat previous mistakes.
He said: “We saw (Radamel) Falcao, (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic, (Edinson) Cavani, (Odion) Ighalo.
“We’ve seen it for the last eight to ten years now, it’s a pattern.
“It keeps happening. We don’t even get angry, we don’t even get animated about it anymore.
“It’s got to the point that I don’t even want to talk about it anymore.”

He then added, “I think it would have come as a shock to him (Ten Hag).”
The Red Devils travel to London next weekend to take on Brentford in another challenging game for Ten Hag and his squad.
