Fugitive who killed two on a German train by ‘piercing a woman’s throat’ just days after being released from prison.

TWO people were killed in a furious knife attack by a refugee released from custody a few days ago.
A woman had her throat cut when the 33-year-old suspect began attacking passengers on a train in Germany, with terrified victims being chased through carriages.

The horror attack occurred on board a train between the northern cities of Hamburg and Kiel.
A huge police and rescue service operation was launched in the town of Brokstedt, 30 miles north of Hamburg.
An eyewitness said he saw traces of blood on several train cars after the attack, which took place around 3 p.m. local time.
The interior minister of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, Sabine Sutterlin-Waack, said the attacker was a stateless Palestinian who had been detained until a few days ago.
“It’s really terrible. We are really shocked and appalled that something like this happened,” she said.
Sources from the investigative team told NDR that the man, who left the Gaza Strip eight years ago, has a criminal past.
The suspect has been convicted of theft, shoplifting, assault and sexual assault since 2015 and was only released from custody on January 19, reports Bild.
The incident has not yet been treated as terrorism, the German police said.
Train passenger Christian Götzner said he was “scared to death” when the man left when the man appeared in the carriage.
The 61-year-old entrepreneur said a heroic fellow passenger “threw a suitcase at him”.
The horror unfolded as the knifeman attacked passengers, seemingly at random.
Victims were chased through several compartments on the train and a woman’s throat was cut, says Bild.
An eyewitness told German news site KN-online that people in his carriage panicked after three girls rushed in and reported that a man with a knife was on the train.
The suspect reportedly self-injured his hands during his arrest.
At least three of the seven injured are in serious condition, reports German news channel Der Tagesspiegel.
The German railway company Deutsche Bahn confirmed that the route between Brockstedt and the town of Wirst was closed and that a rail replacement service was running.
Long-distance trains were also canceled after the attack.
Brokstedt is a small community with just 2,000 inhabitants, about halfway between Hamburg and the port city of Kiel on the German Baltic Sea coast.
Germany has been hit by several deadly knife attacks in recent years, some by extremists, others by people with serious mental health problems.
A Syrian jihadist was sentenced to life in prison in May 2021 for stabbing a German and seriously injuring his partner in a homophobic attack in the eastern city of Dresden.

In December a German court sentenced a Syrian-born man to 14 years in prison for an Islamist knife attack on a train, injuring four passengers.
Last year, a German court committed a Somali man to a psychiatric hospital after he stabbed three people in Würzburg in 2021.
