Friends remember the victim of a drunk driving accident

ODESSA, Texas – Close friends are paying their respects after the Texas Department of Public Safety said two locals were killed in a crash caused by a drunk driver. Friends of the victims are speaking out, saying they still can’t even understand what happened.

Heartbroken and angry are two words friends and family are using to describe how they feel after such an incident, saying they are shocked that something like this could happen to a person. that they know.

Two cars collided head-on in a crash on Saturday night, on FM 3472 just outside Odessa. The driver of one of the cars, Enrique Enriquez, was driving with a passenger, Jeannie Corralez. Corralez died later that night after being transported to the hospital. Police say Enriquez crossed the midfield line because he was drunk.

The driver of the other vehicle involved was 21-year-old Mia Hermosillo. She is presumed dead at the scene.

Hermosillo’s best friend, Kimberly Ybarra, is speaking out on the matter and says Mia is one of the best people she’s ever met.

Ybarra added, “She’s one of my best friends, she’s so sincere, she’s such a caring person. You can always count on her, she will give her in the end. She is a very wonderful person. She means the world to everyone, just like a lot of people, so this is hard for a lot of us. ”

After hearing about the accident, Ybarra said that at first she couldn’t believe that something so tragic had happened.

“Honestly, I don’t know what to say, I still am. But it was a complete shock, I didn’t want to believe it was true,” Ybarra said.

Ybarra went on to say that driving under the influence was never worth it.

“Don’t drink and drive, it’s not worth it, you’re not only putting yourself in danger, you’re putting others in danger. Like this situation, you are hurting the family. It’s hard, it’s something that no one has to go through,” Ybarra said.

Now, Ybarra is doing her best to support the members of the Hermosillo family through such a difficult time.

“Especially, now that she’s gone, I’m trying to be with her mother more. You know because it was a tough time, you know, I knew she would do the same for me,” Ybarra said.

Now, following this accident, Enrique Enriquez is being charged with manslaughter. Currently, no exact funeral date has been set for Hermosillo.
