French star Ousmane Dembele is UNWORTHY of a score in L’Equipe’s brutal World Cup finals player rating.

FRANCE star Ousmane Dembele was deemed ‘UNWORTHY’ by L’Equipe for his performance in the World Cup final.
The 25-year-old Barcelona winger was on the right flank in yesterday’s penalty shoot-out loss to Argentina.

But Dembele lasted just 41 minutes when he was substituted for Randal Kolo Muani after France trailed 2-0.
Dembele was completely ineffective in his one-on-one against Argentina left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.
His worst moment, however, came in the 23rd minute when he fouled Angel Di Maria in France’s penalty area to award a penalty for Lionel Messi’s opening goal.
And French newspaper L’Equipe blasted Dembele’s performance afterwards by refusing to give him a match rating.
They said: “Forty minutes unworthy of a World Cup final. Defensively, the Barcelona man was way too far from his direct opponents.
“He was beaten to the wind by Angel Di Maria before committing a questionable foul in the penalty area to give away a penalty.
“Offensively, all of his first checks landed at the opponent’s feet.”
Dembele wasn’t the only player to be substituted before half-time, with Olivier Giroud also making way for Marcus Thuram.

He too was denied a goal by L’Equipe after barely touching the ball.
Her assessment of Giroud, who became France’s all-time top scorer at the start of the tournament, said: “Olivier Giroud’s great story in the French team could end with those 41 disputed minutes and those bad 12 balls.
“The striker didn’t see the light of day against an Argentine defence, which even dominated him in the air, usually a Giroud strength.
“He also got tired of pushing really high at times.”
The rest of the French team fared little better, with Hugo Lloris and Raphael Varane getting sixes, Jules Kounde a five and Theo Hernandez a three.
In midfield, Adrien Rabiot was a five, Aurelien Tchouameni a four and Antoine Griezmann a three.
But Kylian Mbappe received the highest score on both sides, landing a nine for his incredible hat-trick while boss Didier Deschamps received a seven.
France’s substitutes also produced decent results, with sixes from Kingsley Coman and Eduardo Camavinga and sevens from Thuram and Kolo Muani.
For Argentina, Emi Martinez received an eight, Nahuel Molina a four, Cristian Romero a seven, Nicolas Otamendi a four and Tagliafico a five.

Rodrigo de Paul, Enzo Fernandez and Alexis Mac Allister all grabbed sevens in midfield.
And finally, Julian Alvarez was a six with Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and boss Lionel Scaloni eighth.
