Blues legend Lampard has been appointed interim boss following the sacking of Graham Potter.

It was hoped the former England midfielder could reunite a disjointed and bloated squad while making a late attempt for a European spot.

And there were even dreams of a third Champions League title to change Todd Boehly’s first season at the helm.

However, Lampard saw his first game against Wolves end in defeat.

And Chelsea’s Euro hopes also seem to be over with a 2-0 defeat at Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-finals.

Fans were hoping for an improvement on Saturday as Brighton traveled to Stamford Bridge.

The Seagulls beat Chelsea 4-1 earlier this season after the London side sought manager Potter and several coaches.

But Lampard couldn’t help the Blues retaliate as they threw away a lead to lose 2-1.

Brighton were by far the better team, just like they were at Amex.

And the fans were in good spirits as they continued their climb up the table under Roberto De Zerbi.

In fact, there were several cutting chants aimed at Lampard throughout the game.

At one point, Brighton fans cheekily chanted, “You’ll be fired in the morning.”

And later they trolled Lampard by yelling, “You’re just like Graham Potter.”

Fans online were equally brutal, too, with one saying: “How’s that feel good factor now? Ridiculous date.”

Another declared: “Lampard is the only manager who can make a bad team worse.”

One added: “Fair play to bring his Everton form to Chelsea.”
