AC MILAN midfielder Franck Kessie is in talks to join Real Madrid at the end of the season when his contract expires, reports say.
The news comes as a blow to Liverpool and Tottenham, who have both shown interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has sent representatives to Milan in an attempt to finalize a pre-contract agreement for the Ivory Coast international, according to the Spanish newspaper. El Nacional.
Negotiations between the two sides are said to be ‘accelerating’ as Perez looks to counter interest from elsewhere.
It is reported that Barcelona are also interested in hunting Kessie, and the club is also in contact with Kessie’s agents.
A new deal at the San Siro doesn’t work, so the two La Liga giants are facing a battle to get the highly rated Kessie.
But the central midfielder is said to be ‘a perfect fit’ for the Premier League, and Kessie has no shortage of suitors in England.
Liverpool have previously been linked with Kessie, could not replace Georginio Wijnaldum after his move to PSG in the summer.

And the Red Devils are even said to have made a ‘very interesting’ offer for the AC Milan star.
There is also competition over Tottenham’s form, with Antonio Conte in the market for a centre-back this month.
Although Real Madrid and Barcelona seem to be in a vital position for his signature.
Madrid’s midfield trio of Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are all in the final stages of their glittering careers, and the club are eyeing Kessie as a replacement.
Eduardo Camavinga is recruited in the summer as the club’s plans for the future.
On the other hand, Kessie perfectly fits Barcelona’s bill on a free transfer in the summer.
The underfunded club has exploded £55m for Ferran Torres this window.
And a free transfer to Kessie would also allow the club to pursue alternative targets.
