Riot police officers and fans clashed on the famous Champs-Elysees in the French capital as flares were lit and firecrackers shot into the sky after the tense match.

In Lyon, riot police reportedly fired tear gas at football fans as violence erupted in the city.

Shocking footage showed chaotic scenes as flag-draped supporters hurled rocks, bottles and firecrackers at police before officers fired tear gas at the crowd.

Police could be heard yelling “turn around” at rioters as water cannons reportedly moved in to disperse the crowd.

Another clip showed a group of fans beating up cars with rocks and rubbish before riot police chased them down the street.

Dozens were reportedly arrested in the city.

In Nice, dramatic video showed emergency vehicles driving over burning rubbish bins in the middle of the road as clashes erupted in the city.

After several World Cup games, unrest has broken out across Europe in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, a 14-year-old boy was killed in violent clashes across France following their World Cup victory over Morocco.

Police officers were besieged by firecrackers in Paris as thousands poured into the streets to celebrate after France beat Morocco 2-0 to reach the final.

Shocking footage showed chaotic scenes as fans lobbed riot police officers with a firecracker before officers were forced to flee the line of fire.

Another clip in the French capital showed police pushing back fans as they fired flares down the Champs Elysees.

Rowdy fans chanted as hundreds of cars drove past the crowd, honking their horns and waving flags from windows.

French police officers said 115 arrests were made in Paris in the early hours of Thursday morning, reports Le Parisien.

In the French city of Montpellier, shocking footage also showed fans hurling chairs, firecrackers and rocks at riot police – and climbing the landmark fountain.

People could be seen taking cover as firecrackers were hurled across a square.

Riot police were also blown up by firecrackers in the French city of Lyon, while clashes erupted between fans in Nice and chaos also broke out on the streets of Bordeaux.

In Brussels, police used tear gas and water cannons after scuffles broke out and fans set fires and threw firecrackers in the street.

Dozens were reportedly arrested following the unrest in the Belgian capital.
