Fort Collins ranked among best colleges, Laramie commended

Laramie is kicking Fort Collins ass with Bronze Starter, according to WalletHub’s listing of ‘Towns & Cities with the Best Colleges of 2022 in the US. ‘ Noisy.

Fort Collins often gets a lot of acclaim for being on ‘best’ lists, and with Colorado State University downtown, it’s a bit of a shock that our hometown is out in the rankings. But, if that’s any consolation, then Fort Collins do ranks higher than Boulder, that’s really what we care about, isn’t it?

According to WalletHub, Laramie, home to the University of Wyoming, our Border War rival, is the 23rd best college town in the nation. However, Fort Collins is just behind 100 towns in 123rd place. WalletHub looked at things like wallet-friendliness of each city – yes, Fort Collins, you can do better – as well as the social environment and learning opportunities.

You can’t really argue that Fort Collins doesn’t have a vibrant social scene, especially for college students. And, there are certainly learning opportunities, but the cost of living in Fort Collins is probably what could kill our rankings.

Compare fortresses:

  • Average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Laramie currently around $650
  • Average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Fort Collins more than double, at $1,333

Boulder, home to the University of Colorado, is second only to Fort Collins at number 136 in the nation, while University of Northern Colorado hometown of Greeley beats out, at number 317 (I’m sure there are some Bears). will beg to differ). You can see the full list from WalletHub here.
