Former WWE star Sasha Banks – now Mercedes Mone – was eliminated from the match in worrying scenes with a ‘broken ankle’

Former WWE star Sasha Banks – now known as Mercedes Mone – was carried out of the ring after reportedly breaking his ankle in a match last night.
The 31-year-old made headlines in May 2022 when she and fellow Women’s Tag Team member Naomi quit the WWE show Monday Night Raw after a spat over creativity.
The couple were suspended and after failing to reach an agreement to return to the company, Mone was released in December.
In February, she returned to the ring with New Japan Pro Wrestling, beating Kairi Sane on the first try to secure the IWGP Women’s Title.
That reign lasted only 64 days, however, as she lost the belt to Mayu Iwatani at the Stardom All Star Grand Queendom in April.
Now she suffered a new blow after competing in Sunday’s NJPW Resurgence event.
Mone took on Willow Nightingale in the main event to be crowned the promotion’s first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.
The injury appeared to have occurred when the former WWE star jumped off the top rope and ring post to the ground and slashed her rival’s neck over the top rope with a clothesline.
She was unable to put any weight on her right leg after the point, but the fight went on for another 60 seconds.
Mone then received a massive powerbomb from Nightingale and was covered for a three count, but the referee said it was a two count as he claimed she had her shoulder hunched.

After the confusion, Nightingale repeated the move, this time securing the win with a pinfall.
However, a photo of Mone being carried out of the ring by a man was then shared online as fans worried about her condition.
However, Mone subsequently confirmed her injury on Twitter, but assured her fans that she would be better than ever when she returned.
She tweeted: “WRESTLING!!!! Phew, not how I imagined tonight.
“I’m so sorry and I love you guys so much. I’ll heal and be back better than ever. MonĂ©.”
