The 37-year-old was released on bail by Cleveland Police pending further investigation, the Daily Mail reports.

The store was severely damaged and the residents of the apartment above had to be evacuated.

The shop remained closed over the weekend and the fire service was called after the accident at 9.30pm on Friday.

Earlier this year, Burnley midfielder Dale Stephens was banned from the streets after being caught driving at almost twice the legal limit.

The 32-year-old was pulled over in his £40,000 Range Rover Sport after going out to dinner and “having a few beers”.

The player, who earns £15,000 a week, was stopped by police during a routine stop in Cheshire’s poshest village investigating a spate of luxury car thefts.

It is understood officers initially let Stephens go but then noticed an odor of alcohol.

A roadside breath test showed the Premier League star was almost twice the drink driving limit, Stockport magistrates heard.
