Demaryius Thomas, a former broadcast receiver for the Denver Broncos, has passed away. He is 33 years old.
Thomas is presumed dead at his home in Georgia, and the Roswell Police Department told CNN His death was due to a medical problem. His cousin, LaTonya Bonseigneur, told Related press “He had been having seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure while in the shower.”
Thomas played in the NFL for 10 seasons, and he was signed by the Broncos in 2010. During his time with the team, he played in Super Bowl 50, where the Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers. Dedications to Thomas on social media, with Broncos speech it was “devastated and utterly heartbroken” by the loss.
“DT is loved by the entire organization, our teammates, coaches and fans,” the team said. “Recently retired as Bronco, we look forward to celebrating Demaryius for many years to come as one of the greatest players in franchise history.”
The Broncos noted Thomas as an “instrumental part” of two championships and its Super Bowl victory, also remembering him as a “caring, generous member of our community.” NFL extend “deepest condolences to his family and loved ones,” while former Broncos defender Tim Tebow Thomas remembered because of “his kindness, his smile that will light up the room, and the love he has for the people in his life.”
Peyton Manning also told him was “totally devastated” by Thomas’ death, writing that he was “a better person than he was as a player, and he was a Hall of Fame player. That tells you he is. What a good person to be.”
