Former Day6 member Jae Park apologizes to Jamie but not before receiving backlash from netizens

Former member of Day6 Jae Park apologized for his inappropriate comments about Jamie aka Jimin Park, but not before receiving backlash from Jamie and the Internet.

Although both Jae and Jamie have been friends for a long time, the former Da6 member’s recent comments on the livestream seem to have created an understandable distance between the two.

Day6’s Jae Park makes nasty comments about his longtime friend Jamie

In one of his recent live broadcast, Jae Park called his longtime friend and former JYP company mare Jamie “stuff”, which is a derogatory word used to embarrass women.

Former Day6 member Jae called Jamie an idiot on his live stream.

In the short clip, which soon went viral on social media, Jae can be seen smiling and joking before saying:

“Okay, now that I’m out of K-Pop, I can say this: Why is Jamie trying to be an idiot?”

The former idol then justified his statement by saying

“That’s right! I told you. Tell her. I told! Tell her!”

The immediate reaction from most K-pop fans online was one of shock and dismay, with many calling Jae Park’s statements insensitive and offensive, regardless of his friendships. with Jamie.

his saying “now i’m not in kpop, i can say this” makes it worse bc he knows what he’s talking about abt. he knows it’s a bad thing to say and with that he should apologize not only to jamie but also to his community, which is mostly women.

@onlyparkian This shows the fact that all of these idols can be anyone under the mask of their personalities. They may think of the most scandalousism but fail to express it for fear of the contract to which they are bound. That’s what ‘now that I’m not in kpop’ translates to imo.

However, some have come to the rapper’s defense, sharing an extended version of the video in which Jae Park says he’s confused the terms ‘thot’ and ‘baddie’. Park also stated that he and Jamie were always joking around.

[MORE CONTEXT] Former Day6 member Jae fooled himself on his live stream thinking that baddie and thot are the same word.

Jamie’s response to Jae’s comments confirmed that those comments were not appreciated. Former member 15 & expressed sadness and shock after hearing Park’s comments in a series of now-deleted tweets.

Just remember how much I cared about you even before you were at your last company and how many times [I asked] if you’re fine. I prayed for you. Your question is the same as mine. So sad.”

Shortly after, she tweeted, “I’m just deleting it. I’m fine.”

I hate that we as women have to put up with men’s humor to defuse trends in the internet age

Jamie has a long history of being inappropriately sexually assaulted, and it was heartbreaking for a friend to call her using these derogatory terms. Jae even appeared on Jamie’s YouTube channel, Our Girl Jamie.

It’s sad that jamie has to delete her tweets. SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY ABOUT IT and feel whatever she was feeling but just for the sake of “friendship” jae seemed to take it for granted and for the sake of cooling the situation down she deleted them and put it away

I’m crazy, jae is a misguided thinking man who doesn’t deserve any background. idgaf if they are close friends. Friends don’t do so much more than announce it on a public platform and laugh at bc he thinks he’s funny. jamie is CLEARLY offended and hurt

It’s upsetting because jamie shared how much she started being pornographic as she started to open up more about herself, her body, and her sexuality. It’s sad that jae would even say that as someone who was once friends with her

Jae Park made an apology

An hour after Jamie’s last tweet, Jae Park tweeted a public apology after receiving a backlash. Jae stated that he thought his comments were just a “friendly joke” and that he didn’t mean to “take” Jamie or offend her. Furthermore, Park said that he confused “thot” with “baddie”, and assumed that both mean the same thing.

While Jamie has yet to respond to Jae Park’s apology, the Internet isn’t too accepting of it. To many, it seems like the backlash is the reason behind the apology, not the actual remorse. Jae Park’s behavior has also been called into question because it’s not the first time he’s made controversial comments.

I’m sorry but I can’t count how many apology letters you’ve posted. This shouldn’t be left with an apology letter, but you should also learn to reflect on your actions. you should get your sht together. just do some reflection jae. this is sad, as your fan.

@eaJPark Can’t really express how disappointed I am with your recent actions. Day by day, it seems that I no longer know what kind of person you are. It doesn’t matter who you were before, you are real or made up, but I have to admit that the person you are now, is not the person I supported before.

@mamawonpil @eaJPark @ jiminpark07 I mean, if he’s an adult, he should know not to make blatantly wrong inferences? especially with one of your friends. if he really thought it meant baddie, he wouldn’t have to wait to leave the industry to say it. he’s almost 30 and fluent in english, no excuses

Meanwhile, Jamie, whose real name is Park Ji-Min, was formerly a member of vocal duo 15 &. The 24-year-old worked under JYP Entertainment until April 2020, after which Jamie joined Warner Music Korea. JYP Entertainment just a few days ago with a shocking announcement, also announcing the rapper’s departure from Day6.
