Former Bundesliga manager Markus Anfang admitted to using fake Covid passports and fined after resigning

FORMER Werder Bremen’s manager, Markus Anfang, has confessed to using a fake Covid passport – an offense in Germany.
The incident happened when Anfang was allowed to enter the Cologne festival using fake documents in November.
An investigation has been launched and the coach admitted to prosecutors last month that he used a fake Covid passport, according to reports in Germany.
Frank Passade, a spokesman for the Bremen prosecutor’s office, said: “He made a statement through his defense attorney and admitted to the charges.
“Now we will think about how to close the case.”
Anfang is said to have told prosecutors he had forged documents due to growing pressure about not being vaccinated.
Based on Der Spiegel he declined the advice because he was afraid of heart complications – his father died of heart disease.
Due to the nature of Anfang’s confession, it is unlikely that there will be a public hearing on the matter even though he could receive a court order.

That could lead to Anfang being fined, but prosecutors have yet to determine the amount under AZ Online.
Prosecutors are expected to result in damages that Anfang has suffered to reputation as well as loss of income – Anfang resigns as Werder Bremen boss after the affair was made public.
Anfang took over at Werder Bremen last summer and won just five of his 14 games after the club were relegated from the Bundesliga last season.
He has also had spells with Holstein Kiel, Darmstadt 98 and Koln, where he was sacked as the club took the top spot in Bundesliga 2.
