A number of ex-EFL stars were on display, including former Chesterfield star Jay O’Shea, who stood by Rodwell in the middle of the park.
Former Watford defender Adrian Mariappa started, as did ex-Shrewsbury striker Jason Cummings.
Despite the difference in quality, the A-League eleven came through against Barcelona, although Ousmane Dembele scored the opening goal to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.
But the Australians hit back after the break with two quick goals from Reno Piscopo and Adama Traore.

Barcelona’s Adama Traore then equalized in his last appearance for the club before his loan from Wolves comes to an end.
Five minutes later, whizkid Ansu Fati scored again to win the game for Barcelona and ensure they ended the season on a high note.
For Rodwell, it was a chance to go head-to-head with some of the best in the world for the first time since leaving the Premier League.
He met Barca prodigy Gavi in midfield who has impressed this season.

Barcelona are determined to tie Gavi to a long-term deal but the 17-year-old refuses to sign the offer that has been on the table for some time.
But after the end of the season, the club can concentrate on contract and transfer negotiations.
President Joan Laporta is said to be eyeing deals for Robert Lewandowksi and Marcos Alonso, with the latter reportedly keen on moving to the Nou camp.
It is also believed that Barca are ready to sell Frenkie de Jong this summer with interest from both Manchester clubs and PSG.
