FLOYD MAYWEATHER has announced that his next exhibition match against MMA Mikuru Asakura will be in Japan.
The 45-year-old boxing legend announced the news at a press conference in Las Vegas, saying it will take place in Japan in September against the Tokyo native.
Mayweather will take on the 29-year-old former RIZIN featherweight title contender in a fight expected to air on the new “RIZIN Fight Pass.”
The American icon left professional boxing after defeating UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds.
Mayweather officially retired in 2017 but has since been involved in three shows in the ring.
The first was in 2018 against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo, promoted by RIZIN.
He marked his return by wiping out Nasukawa, 23, in a round of their mismatch.
Mayweather then met YouTuber Logan Paul, 27, in June 2021 and gave away TWO STONES in the spectacle fight.
It went the full eight-lap distance when Paul technically averted defeat.
Mayweather’s most recent appearance in the ring came against former sparring partner Don Moore in May.
The fight was originally scheduled to take place on a hotel HELIPAD in Dubai, 700 feet above sea level, before it was scrapped ONE DAY earlier.
It followed the death of former UAE President Sheikh Khalifa, who died at the age of 73.
Mayweather would instead dominate Moore a week later in Abu Dhabi.
And now he will return to Japan again and join the MMA organization for another exhibition fight.
