Flood notices issued for areas of Allegheny County – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Freezing rain is turning all to rain sometimes heavy and temperatures will stay above freezing for a little longer until around 7am then gradually decrease through the day.
Immediately: New flood warnings are in place until 8 a.m. for parts of the area. Rainfall between 0.5 and 0.8 inches has decreased. Heavy rain continued and fog caused problems this morning with freezing rain east and north of I-80. All will turn to mixed and light sleet over the next few hours.

Alarm: Winter Weather Alerts for counties north of Pittsburgh end at 7 a.m. and Ice Storm Warnings end at 10 a.m. for ridges and laurels. Precipitation amounted to 1″ and ice accumulation totaled .25″ for eastern regions.

Awareness: Flood notices for the Ohio River at Point in downtown Pittsburgh will be issued Monday morning. The river is forecast to peak at 19.2 ‘morning Saturday morning. The Mon Wharf Bridge would be at the top and possibly close to the North Bank riverwalk.

There will be some light sleet around but almost no accumulation. Watch for slippery spots on the road and even flooded low-lying areas. Daytime temperatures today will only be in the mid-20s so re-freezing is possible as well.

The weekend will be quiet with cold mornings and mostly sunny skies in the afternoon with peaks between 30 Saturdays and almost 40 Sundays.
The work week looks quiet with lots of sunshine. The coldest morning/night will be Monday with the lowest in teenagers, then Tuesday and Wednesday, we’re back to mid to over 40 and maybe even 60, by the end. week and weekend.
