JALEN HURTS is not only the only 5-0 quarterback this season, but maybe the strongest.
In his first three years in the NFL since being drafted second round by the Philadelphia Eagles, Hurts has not missed more than one game at a time through injury.
But perhaps that durability shouldn’t come as a surprise considering he even competed as a powerlifter during his time at Channelview High School, finishing second and subsequently qualifying for the Texas State Meeting, per heavy.com.
Fast forward to his time in Alabama, where Hurts managed to squat 600 pounds.
According to AL.com, only three players managed to beat Hurts’ lift, and all were linemen.
But his rise to the NFL doesn’t seem to have stopped him from pumping iron.
Back in the summer of 2021, Hurts made his way to Eagles to tackle Lane Johnson’s “Bro Barn,” where he managed 620 pounds deadlift.
According to ESPN, Hurts regularly works out at Johnson’s “Bro Barn” and starts his workout at 5 a.m. while the others are still asleep.
Johnson told ESPN, “I mess with him. I’m gonna say, ‘Hey man, you ain’t gonna play games at 5am.’
“But I get the discipline part. That’s how it’s wired, man. He’s been like that for a long time, I think.”
Who knows, with a tough matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on the horizon, Hurts may have struggled particularly hard against the “Bro Barn” this week as they look to remain undefeated and beat their division rivals.
The Eagles and Cowboys play at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, October 16.
