A FLAMENGO supporter has been arrested and banned from games after kissing an ESPN reporter during a live broadcast.

Jessica Dias captured a bit on camera ahead of Flamengo’s Copa Libertadores clash with Velez Sarsfield, where a Brazilian fan was pictured kissing her on the face.

The supporter, dubbed Marcelo Benevides Silva by the El Pais newspaper, was subsequently arrested for alleged sexual harassment.

Later that evening, Flamengo wrote on social media: “The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo denies the harassment committed by a red and black fan with ESPN journalist Jessica Dias during a report ahead of tonight’s game.

“It is unfortunate that such disgusting acts that do not represent the Red Black Nation are still happening.”

According to Brazilian newspaper O Globo, Benevides Silva was released a day after the game – but is now barred from games and cannot leave his state without court permission.

He was also forbidden to come into contact with slides.

Following the incident, Dias wrote on Instagram: “It was just a kiss on the cheek.

“No. It wasn’t. They used to have a lot of swearing and harassment because life was long. I asked for silence and for him not to swear, he didn’t have to.

“The ‘sorry’ came with a slap on the shoulder and a kiss on the spot. I was just about to be called to the link and I held the position, there is some logistics that requires focus.

“Another attempt at a kiss on the shoulder. I dodged and my camera caught his eye. The final act was the kiss on the cheek. That it could have been in the mouth and it wouldn’t change anything.

“I was sexually harassed at work and it’s a crime. I didn’t want a kiss, I didn’t want affection, I didn’t want to spend three hours in a police station. I just wanted to work.

“The person who did this was with an underage son who has apologized to his father. The boy is not to blame, do not punish his family.

“I appreciate all the support and affection from my bosses @espnbrasilits yes@lbvbrasil. I especially thank @bandeira2000 and @andrelzdsouza my team on the agenda.

“Two men of character who were after the guy and stayed with me the whole time. Saturday I’m getting married and at the altar I’m going to kiss the man I allowed it to. I’ll be away from here and the channels for a while a few days. I thank all of you.”
