VLADIMIR Putin could go nuclear by launching low-yield device in Ukraine, Bombing over the Black Sea or Test launch of a Poseidon drone off the United States coast, experts warn.
The tyrant, who turns 70 on Friday, is “preparing to make important decisions from a bunker” after warning his immediate family to be ready to evacuate Moscow in a hurry, reports said.
Putin’s gymnast Alina Kabaeva, 40, and her children are ready to be taken to the remote bunker along with senior government officials, sources say.
His two adult daughters and their families were also reportedly warned they might be evacuated, according to anti-Kremlin general SVR Telegram Channel.
It is alleged that the ailing Putin – whose illness is said to be forcing more and more hasty decisions – has been holed up underground in Siberia since he illegally annexed four regions of Ukraine on Friday.
Mad Vlad warned at the ceremony that he would use “all means” to defend them – as a threat to start a nuclear world war.
General SVR claimed all his appearances since then have been recorded and that he is actually in his bunker advising witch doctors while he contemplates a nuclear strike.
Shamans performed a “burning bird” ritual for Putin, which could mean “victory and death,” leaving the interpretation “to the president’s painful imagination,” it said.
Fears of an impending nuclear test on the border with Ukraine were raised today after a train was seen carrying supplies.
Meanwhile, NATO warned that Russia has deployed its massive new Belgorod submarine, which can be armed with horrific nuclear “doomsday drones.”
The Poseidon torpedoes reportedly carry a two-megaton warhead designed to devastate coastal cities with a 300-foot radioactive tsunami.
Experts have previously warned that Putin is “more likely” to launch a nuclear bomb than accept defeat in Ukraine.
And Joseph Cirincione, a Distinguished Fellow at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft in Washington DC, has outlined five chilling ways Putin could unleash nuclear weapons on the world.
Speaking on Bill Press Pods, he warned that the Russian dictator could first fire nuclear weapons into the Black Sea as a “demonstration shot” before using nuclear weapons on targets in Ukraine.
And in a worrying worst-case scenario, Mr Cirincione said Putin could fire on NATO targets or even the United States.
Mr Cirincione said: “The first possibility would be you would use a nuclear weapon in a demonstration shot, so for example you would shoot something in the Black Sea.
“The purpose of this is to ‘escalate to de-escalate’ when the war goes badly.
“If the Russians felt they were about to be defeated, they would fire a nuclear shot to indicate the seriousness of the situation and urge the West to retreat.
“If that happened, I would say the reaction would be shock and horror – but it would not require a military response.
“You don’t have to do anything there. I would say the US response would be more diplomatic.”
Atomic bomb on the battlefield
In a second scenario, Mr Cirincione said Putin could unleash a “very weak weapon” on a military target in Ukraine.
It is known that Russia has so-called tactical nuclear weapons that can be launched at the battlefield using Iskander missiles.
They would kill thousands and cause great damage.
But Mr Cirincione said: “Again, the US would not necessarily need a military solution.”
The expert continued: “The third possibility is that they use a serious nuclear weapon – the size of Hiroshima or larger – and it hits and destroys a city in Ukraine.
“At this point it gets pretty serious.
“I would expect a far-reaching military response from NATO immediately.
“No NATO forces on the ground, but long-range strikes, which we are quite capable of.”
“For example, we could attack the launch pad and definitely send a message saying ‘don’t do that again’.
“That’s what you’re trying to control the escalation.”
But he insisted that in this scenario, NATO would not launch a retaliatory nuclear weapon on Russia.
NATO under attack
“Here we come to the fourth scenario…which targets a NATO base,” he said.
“If you see a low-yield weapon being used on a NATO target, you would get a NATO air and ground attack that would simply wipe out the Russian military in Ukraine.
“We could do that, it would take a few weeks, but we could end the war if we wanted to.
“What you are trying to avoid is Russia firing again – another nuclear weapon.
“This is where it gets extremely risky. Putin may feel he has no choice but to launch.”
He added: “Therefore, in the fifth and final phase – if Putin were to use a nuclear weapon on a US target and fire a long-range missile at the US – all bets are off.”
“There is no question that US military command would almost universally demand that we respond with a nuclear strike.
“It would likely be several strikes to knock out the command structure and some of its capabilities before they could react – including knocking out Putin himself.”
Mr Cirincione said senior US officials would work through the scenarios and prepare possible responses should Putin’s war escalate.
He added: “I just gave you five, but I bet they have a list of 25 that goes into fine-tuning what you would do and how you would do it.
“But I think for many of these scenarios, you have to go quite a way up before you get to the US nuclear response.”
